Hi foodies, today I’ll be doing a food review of a cozy restaurant near Vikas Cine Mall, Indra Nagar. They are very well known for their aesthetic décor, serving size & elaborate menu.
Come, let’s take a closer look!
Location
Shop G-23, Plot MP 1, Vikas Cine Mall, Indira Nagar Colony Road, Balliwala, Dehradun, Uttarakhand 248001
Finding a good parking spot during the daytime and on weekdays is not a hassle at all as there is ample parking space available around the premises of the mall for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers alike. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the evenings and weekends, as the area tends to get quite crowded during these times and hence finding a good parking spot then might be slightly difficult.

Ambience
The ambiance of the restaurant was refreshingly vibrant and lively. It was cozy and compact in design but was designed very tastefully, giving it the look of a café usually found in popular hill stations like Mussoorie or Shimla.
Quality Of Food (Taste, Service & Presentation)
The service of the restaurant was quite good on the whole, but definitely, something they can try and improve upon, as personally, I felt they were slightly understaffed in this department and needed more help.
Nevertheless, the service staff themselves were warm and courteous, and all the dishes that I had ordered were presented beautifully and looked very appetizing.
Dishes Ordered
From their beverages section, I ordered one of their best varieties of shakes, the Butterscotch Caramel Shake.
For my main course, first I ordered one of their best-selling burgers, the Reykan’s Special Aloo Burger and lastly, from their continental section, I ordered one of their best pasta dishes, the famous Penne Pasta al Funghi.
Butterscotch Caramel Shake
First up came one of their best varieties of shakes, the Butterscotch Caramel Shake.
The shake was served full to the brim in a tall glass, with a paper straw and a long-handled shake spoon provided with it too. For the sake of presentation, the glass also had some food art drawn on it as well, with the help of some caramel syrup.
The shake was rich, creamy, frothy in consistency, and tasted absolutely sublime. It was quite thick in consistency and had the distinct flavor of rich butterscotch running through it beautifully.
Additionally, a few small scoops of fresh butterscotch ice cream, as well as some dark caramel syrup, were garnished on top of the shake, both of which not only made the shake look pretty but also combined beautifully with the rich, milky texture of the shake itself, adding more flavor to the entire drink. The butterscotch ice cream added more richness and a slight crunch to the shake, mainly due to the small sweet and crunchy pieces of the butterscotch present in the ice cream, whereas the dark caramel syrup added a distinct smoky and caramelized butterscotch flavor to an already premium and flavorsome beverage.
Fortunately, I didn’t find the shake to be either overtly sweet or too heavy on the stomach, and it helped compliment my meal wonderfully. It had to be one of the best variations of butterscotch shake I’ve had in a long time and a highly recommended beverage from my side.
Reykan’s Special Aloo Burger
Next up came one of their specialty burgers, the Reykan’s Special Aloo Burger.
The burger was served on a stylish ceramic plate, along with a uniquely styled bowl, which was used for serving a sweet and sour chilli sauce, as well as a modest portion of golden-fried French fries, which is served with all of their varieties of burgers.
The Special Aloo Burger was quite wholesome, packed with flavor, and tasted absolutely delicious. Starting with the bun they had used for the burger; it was super moist and melt-in-mouth soft. Even after grilling it for a little bit, the bun still managed to maintain enough moisture in it to be soft in texture and not become dry or hard.
Moving on to the filling of the burger, it was made by putting together lots of flavorful elements to make for a flavorsome filling. Starting with the burger patty they had used; it was crispy on the outside and quite soft on the inside. I could clearly get the taste of the freshly boiled potato mash they had used to make the patty, but it also had a few other ingredients added in it as well, like finely diced pieces of carrots and green chillies, to give it more taste. Furthermore, a generous amount of black pepper was used in it too, which didn’t give the burger patty a spicy taste at all, instead, it added a nice, peppery flavor to the overall flavor of the aloo burger patty.
The aloo patty was then topped off with a generous amount of white melted cheese and placed on a big, crunchy lettuce leaf. Moreover, the burger patty was garnished with lots of finely chopped cubes of onions, capsicum, and tomatoes as well, to give the overall taste of the filling a fresh crunch.
As for the sides provided with the burger, the French fries were not the crunchiest fries I’ve had, but they were still quite soft and airy and tasted delicious, nonetheless. Moreover, the sweet and sour sauce they had provided with the burger acted as a great accompaniment and went really well with the soft French fries.
Penne Pasta al Funghi
And finally came one of their best dishes from the continental section of their menu, the penne pasta al Funghi.
The pasta dish was served on a stylish ceramic pasta plate, accompanied by a slice of toasted cheese bread served on the side. The dish was garnished with a generous amount of grated cheese, a few segments of cherry tomatoes and black olives, and finally topped off with some coriander leaves.
The penne pasta al Funghi was rich, cheesy, super creamy in texture, and tasted divine.
Starting with the penne pasta itself, it was well cooked but still had a bite to it. Although I found a few pieces of pasta to be quite brittle and slightly breaking apart at the seams, they weren’t mushy at all.
Moving on to the main element of the dish, the white sauce, which they had dressed the penne pasta with. The sauce was super creamy, buttery rich in texture, and super tasty, and one could get the distinct taste of fresh mushroom in the sauce which gave the dish its trademark, premium taste.
Furthermore, the flavor of the mushroom sauce was further enhanced by the addition of a few other ingredients infused in it like some thinly sliced, bite-size pieces of button mushrooms, a generous amount of grated cheese, and some delicious continental seasonings like oregano, black pepper, chilli flakes, and pizza seasonings.
The button mushroom pieces were very well cooked and super soft and tender in texture, whereas the generous amount of grated cheese added a cheesy, salty taste to the sauce. Additionally, the continental spices gave a nice, peppy flavor to the sauce as well, which not only helped bring all the different flavors together but also helped in taking the taste of the dish to a more premium level.
The small segments of cherry tomatoes and black olives which were used to decorate the dish added a mild, citrusy touch to the dish, which helped provide a slight relief from the rich and creamy taste of the mushroom sauce.
Lastly, the slice of toasted cheese bread provided with the pasta dish tasted fresh and acted as a great accompaniment to go with the entire dish. It was nicely toasted through and had a thin layer of melted cheese, as well as some pizza seasoning sprinkled on it, which gave it a delectable taste. Although not a big issue, I wish they had provided two slices of bread instead of only one as I felt another slice of toasted bread would have complimented the dish much better.

To Eat or Not?
To Eat, without a doubt.
With their aesthetically designed, colorful yet compact ambiance, mouth-watering food, and courteous service, they are a great place to enjoy a wide selection of dishes spanning numerous cuisines, with your loved ones.
The restaurant was extremely well decorated and eye-catching and even though the overall area of the restaurant was indeed small, especially the dining area located inside the restaurant, it never felt as if the restaurant was held back in any aspect because of its size, as it had most of the things in place which a good restaurant must have, if not more, and for that, huge credit must be given to the owner who designed this place, as apart from its size, I found it to be one of the liveliest and most uniquely designed restaurants in Dehradun today.
One aspect I felt the restaurant was left lacking in was its service and they absolutely must work on improving it as soon as possible. One way of drastically improving the overall service of the restaurant is by having a full-time service staff always present in the dining area to take care of any of the customers’ queries, which might not seem like much in the beginning, but in the long run, it will help the restaurant, and ultimately the kitchen, massively.
Overall, I immensely enjoyed my visit to this cute little restaurant and can’t wait to try more amazing, delicious dishes from their elaborate menu on my next visit.
