Burger Singh Food Review

Hi foodies, today I’ll be doing a food review of a very popular fast-food restaurant near Vikas Cine Mall, Indra Nagar. They are well known for their pocket-friendly pricing, serving size & Punjabi burgers.

Come, let’s take a closer look!

Location

C1/114 Indira Nagar, near Pizza Hut, Dehradun, Uttarakhand 248001

The restaurant is located in an arcade area next to the mall and has ample parking space around it for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers alike. The area does indeed get quite crowded, especially during the evenings and the weekends, but never crowded enough to cause any parking-related issues.

Ambience

The premises of the restaurant were designed to be more like a takeaway & delivery-centric outlet, and although there wasn’t much in terms of ambiance to this restaurant, it nevertheless looked very well maintained and hygienic.

Quality Of Food (Taste, Service & Presentation)

The service of the restaurant was quick and efficient. All the dishes that I had ordered were packed securely and prepared in quick time.

The service staff was in the restaurant’s trademark blue and black uniform, which gave them a professional look. Moreover, my order was taken by Ms. Vidya, who was not only warm and courteous towards me but was also generous enough to give an insight into the makings of the various burgers and snacks they had on offer.

Dishes Ordered

From their large burger section, I ordered one of their signature veg burgers, the Udta Punjab 2.0

From their regular burger section, I ordered two of their best-selling regular-sized non-veg burgers, the Nikku Singh Chicken & the Junior Fried Chicken burgers.

From their fries section, I ordered two of the most popular varieties of fries, the Dilli-6 Fries & Moroccan Fries

Udta Punjab 2.0

First up came one of their signature large burgers, the Udta Punjab 2.0

The burger came packed in a stylish disposable box, wrapped in their trademark butter paper.

The burger was soft, crispy, super cheesy in make, and tasted delicious.

Starting with the bun they had used: a fresh and soft variety of burger bun was used, which was slightly toasted on the insides as well, to not only help in holding the dish together but to also give the bun a nice crunch.

Coming to the filling inside the bun: a few tasty elements like a crunchy veg patty, some finely sliced fresh onions, and lettuce leaves, along with a rich variety of cheese sauce, were arranged inside the bun to complete the dish.

The veg patty was quite wholesome in taste and crunchy in texture. It was made by combining lots of fresh ingredients like mashed potatoes, some finely diced carrots, and green chillies, and lastly, well-seasoned with a generous quantity of pizza seasoning too, to give the veg patty a peppier flavor. To further enhance the flavor of the veg patty by giving it a cheesier taste, a modest amount of cheese was stuffed inside it as well.

Furthermore, the thin slices of onions and lettuce leaves added a nice fresh crunch to the burger, whereas the rich and creamy cheese sauce added a more premium, cheesy flavor to the entire dish.

A great burger for anyone looking for a large veg burger, jam-packed with lots of cheesy and tangy goodness. A highly recommended dish.

Junior Fried Chicken & Nikku Singh Chicken

Next up came two of their best-selling regular-sized burgers, the Nikku Singh chicken burger & the Junior fried chicken burger.

Since these two burgers were from their regular burgers section, they came wrapped only in the restaurant’s trademark butter paper. To distinguish them from each other, a sticker was attached to them with their names written on it, describing which burgers they were.

In essence, I found the overall taste of both the burgers to be quite similar apart from a few variations in the sauces and the veggies they had layered inside them.

Starting with the bun itself, a soft and moist variety of burger bun was used to make both the burgers. To give the buns more texture, they had slightly grilled them from the insides as well.

Moving on to the chicken patties, both the burgers had crunchy, flavorful chicken patties layered in them, and although they tasted quite similar to me, the consistency of the chicken used in the patties was slightly different. The chicken filling in the patty of the Junior fried chicken burger had a more intense chicken flavor to it and was much smoother and finer in consistency, whereas the chicken filling in the patty of Nikku Singh chicken in comparison was chunkier in consistency, but milder in flavor.

Coming to the veggies layered in each burger, both the burgers had fresh, crunchy veggies layered in them, with the Junior fried chicken burger having both the thinly sliced lettuce leaves, as well as some onion slices in it, whereas on the other hand, the Nikku Singh chicken burger came without the lettuce leaves and only had 2-3 large onion rings layered in it.

Finally coming to the sauces, once again both the burgers had delicious, cheesy sauces layered in them, with the Junior fried chicken burger having a more traditional, peppy orangish cheese sauce in it, whereas the Nikku Singh chicken burger had a more distinct sweet onion flavored cheese sauce in it to help it stand out.

Overall, I absolutely loved the flavors of both the burgers very much but I still felt the restaurant could’ve done a lot more in terms of adding more robust, ‘Punjabi’ flavors into them to help them truly be unique.

Dilli-6 Fries & Moroccan Fries

And last but not least came two of their most popular varieties of fries, the Dilli-6 fries and the Moroccan fries.

The Dilli-6 fries were packed in a brittle, disposable butter paper cup, whereas the Moroccan fries were packed in a more durable disposable French fries box.

In terms of texture, I found both the fries to be quite similar, with both having super crunchy exteriors, while still being soft and moist on the insides.

The main distinction between the two burgers was in their seasonings however, with the Dilli-6 fries having a generous coating of spicy peri-peri powder sprinkled on them, whereas the Moroccan fries had a peppier and tangier, lemony seasoning coated on them.

I found both varieties of fries to be super tasty and it ultimately comes down to the customer’s preferences. If you’re looking for a spicy option, the Dilli-6 fries are for you. If you’re more interested in a tangier, lemony variety, try the Moroccan fries.

To Eat or Not?

To Eat, for sure!

With their excellent, eco-friendly packaging, varied, flavorful fast-food items, & courteous service, they are quickly becoming one the best places to order from and enjoy some truly delicious fast-food items, especially burgers with some Punjabi twist, at very economical prices, with your loved ones.

Although I liked all the dishes that I had ordered, I immensely enjoyed the Udta Punjab 2.0 the most, as I found its cheese-filled burger patty to be utterly delicious in taste and quite unique in make as well.

They can definitely improve upon a couple of aspects in my opinion, like firstly, adding more uniqueness to the taste of their regular-sized burgers, as even though they tasted great, they weren’t all that different in flavor from each other. And secondly, I would also like them to add more robust, Punjabi flavors into their burgers, as that is what truly makes them different and helps them stand out from the other top brands serving great burgers as well like KFC, Burger King, McDonald’s., etc.

Overall, I had a great time ordering from this popular restaurant, and I can’t wait to go back and try out a few more of their Indianized burger variations on my next visit.
