Hi foodies, today I’ll be doing a food review of not one, but two restaurants running from the same location. One is a fast-food restaurant and the other is a more conventional Indian restaurant, situated near Anurag Chowk, Kanwali road. They are well known for their cozy seating, elaborate menu & Rolls.
Come, let’s take a closer look!

Ambience
The ambience of the restaurant was cozy and compact. It was primarily a self-service, dine-in restaurant, but it was clear to see that they had designed it to be more of a takeaway/delivery restaurant. The overall area of the restaurant was quite small and they had tried their best to make the most of the space available to them.
Quality Of Food (Taste, Service & Presentation)
The service of the restaurant was quick and efficient. Both the dishes that I had ordered were served in good time, presented well & were extremely filling.
The service staff was in the restaurant’s trademark uniform which gave them a very professional look. They were polite and helpful, especially Mr. Prem, who was on hand to answer any of my queries regarding the restaurant, along with recommending some of their best dishes to try out from their elaborate menu.
On a side note, I initially wanted to order their famous chicken shawarma roll along with a beverage like a fresh lime soda, mint mojito, or a chocolate shake, but unfortunately, they were not serving any of those items at that time, which was a real pity and extremely disappointing.
Dishes Ordered
I ordered a Classic Chicken Roll from 34 Chowringhee Lane’s menu and a plate of Tandoori Soya Chaap from The Clay Pot’s menu.
Classic Chicken Roll
First up came one of 34 Chowringhee Lane’s specialty dishes, the classic chicken roll.
The chicken roll was served on a disposable paper plate, wrapped in their trademark customized butter paper.
It was crispy, tangy, spicy, and super delicious. Starting with the outer layer of the roll, the paratha used to wrap the filling was lightly seasoned, flaky, and quite crispy, giving the roll a very nice and premium texture.
Moving on to the filling of the roll, it was jam-packed with flavor. It was made by combining various ingredients like chicken cubes, which were cooked in a flavorful but slightly spicy marinade, finely chopped slices of onions, a few slices of green capsicum, some hot and tangy red chili sauce, and finally finished off with a green mint and curd chutney. Although the chicken cubes were quite big and could’ve easily been made smaller, they were still very moist and juicy and had absorbed all the spices and sauces they were cooked in. The flavorful filling and the crispy, flaky paratha complimented each other wonderfully.
Dehradun is blessed with numerous top-quality places that serve delicious rolls, but very few actually manage to perfect both the paratha and the filling of the rolls, and I felt this place truly excelled at that.
Tandoori Soya Chaap
And lastly came one of the highly rated dishes from the clay pot’s menu, the tandoori soya chaap.
10 bite-size pieces of tandoori soya chaap were served on a royal-looking steel plate with designer brass handles, to give the dish a premium feel. A couple of accompaniments were served alongside them as well, like a good portion of spiced salad, which consisted of finely chopped slices of onions and cabbage, and a creamy, green mint and curd chutney, which was served in a white plastic bowl. The salad in particular had a slightly spicy, peppery taste to it and was presented in a bowl made out of a leaf of cabbage.
The tandoori soya chaap was spicy, melt-in-mouth soft, and had a delectable smoky flavor of tandoor running through it. It was coated in a red-colored, spicy, and flavorsome marinade which was nicely charred on the outside, whereas the insides were still quite soft & creamy.
Furthermore, the onion and cabbage salad, along with the creamy green mint and curd chutney, went really well with the spicy and charred texture of the soya chaap and complimented the dish beautifully.
One thing I would like to point out about this dish was that even though it tasted great, I found it to be slightly on the spicier side. My recommendation for the customers who don’t prefer their food to be spicy is to request the restaurant to adjust the level of spice in their dish accordingly.

To Eat or Not?
To Eat, absolutely!
With their elaborate menu, comparatively modest pricing, and delicious food, they are most definitely one of the better places in the city to consider eating from, especially if you’re looking for delectable rolls, as I was mightily impressed by the classic chicken roll the most, as they got all the necessary, delicious elements of a great chicken roll spot-on.
Both the dishes that I had ordered were prepared quickly and efficiently, were presented well, were extremely filling, and tasted delicious. Some customers may find the pricing of their dishes to be comparatively expensive, but in my opinion, their taste and portion size more than make up for it in the end.
Even though they have the option of dine-in available at the restaurant, for the best experience, my recommendation would be to opt for either takeaway or delivery, as the overall upkeep of the dining area is certainly not at its best at the moment and needs a lot of work in terms of cleanliness and hygiene before it is truly worth visiting.
